Pumpkin spice lattes are back on the menu at the local coffee shops so that means fall weather is looming! As much as I hate to say good-bye to summer I'm all for using the change of season as an excuse to revamp my wardrobe. Below I've rounded up a few of my fave fall fashion and accessory trends.
Red Hot
Barbie pink had its moment but now it's time for red to get the spotlight. A bright fiery red was popping up over all the runways and I'm here for it. You can opt for a bolder statement with a scarlet dress or coat or just add a pop of color to your outfit with some crimson accessories. The sweater pictured from H & M has a fun boxy cut and a gorgeous rich shade that's hard not to notice.
Rich Neutrals
This trend goes hand in hand with the quiet luxury vibe that's become popular. Pair neutral shades like beige, brown and cream for a monochromatic look that's elegant and understated. The casual cords and shirt from J Crew look effortlessly luxe in these subtle tones.
Mixed Metals
This trend takes the top spot for me. I've been extolling the virtues of mixing metals for years now so I'm thrilled it's getting more attention. I think the contrast between silver and gold tones just makes the jewelry pop a bit more. For the stud earrings featured I paired brushed warm brass with bright shiny silver.
Tailoring
Classic styling and power dressing staples are making a comeback but it's more wearable this time around so think looser pants and oversized jackets. For dressier occasions these items can be the building blocks that give an outfit a sleek polished look. The suit from Madewell features looser pants (yay for an elastic waist!) but it's still undeniably chic.
Preppy Footwear
The essentials of preppy footwear - loafers, oxford shoes and riding boots - are all trending for fall 2023. You can definitely pair them with preppy wardrobe basics but they're all so versatile that loafers with cargos or riding boots with a sweater dress would also look fantastic. I love the chunky black loafers pictured and could see these becoming my go-to pair this autumn.
